Chief Medical Officer

CentraState Medical Center

Dr. Matera is a trained nephrologist, practicing actively for over 30 years in his home of Central New Jersey. He has been the Chief Medical Officer at CentraState Medical Center since 2019, facing the COVID crisis head on, as well as a cyber event in late 2022. Throughout these challenges his his passion for healthcare was evident. His dedication now is to medical education, participating in medical student teaching, critical thinking and rotation placement from Rowan and UNECOM medical schools. His focus is on physician wellbeing and bringing joy back to medicine, while adhering to the concepts of adaptability, accountability and communication. He has spoken across the United States on medical topics as well as Articifial Intelligence, Physician Disengagement, and has filmed numerous podcasts and webinars. Outside of medicine, he enjoys golf (still waiting for that first Hole In One! and cooking. He was on the Food Netwrok in 2017, where he won Episode 10, Season 3 of "Cooks vs. Cons" claiming $15,000 for his win. He resides in Monroe NJ with a second home in Manchester New Hampshire where his 2 grandchildren reside.
