Janice A Knebl, DO, MBA, FACP, MACOI, CPPS, is the Dallas Southwest Osteopathic Physicians Endowed Chair in Clinical Geriatrics and University of North Texas System Regent’s Tenured Professor, the past Interim Chairman of UNT Health Science Center's Department of Internal Medicine and Geriatrics, and the UNT Health Clinical Practice Group Chief Medical Officer.

Additionally, Dr. Knebl is a co- Medical Director for the James L. West Center for Dementia Care and the Medical Director for the Stayton Continuing Care Retirement Community.

Among many other accomplishments, she has been named as a “Fort Worth Top Doc” for over 25 years, received the distinguished "Internist of the Year" Award from the American College of Osteopathic Internists, the American Osteopathic Foundation’s Physician of the Year in 2020 and has been the recipient of aging research grants from agencies such as American Federation for Aging Research, Bureau of Health Professions, Alzheimer's Association, Texas Consortium on Alzheimer’s Disease (TARC) and Texas’ Department of Health and Human Services totally over $25 million in funding. Her lengthy list of publications and articles are on a variety of subjects including Alzheimer's disease, primary care and geriatrics, and models of geriatrics education and training.

Dr. Knebl is passionate about student, resident, and professional education, primary care for older adults and caregiver support, and for those diagnosed with dementia disorders. She created the Center for Older Adults that provides clinical care and services to older adults throughout the continuum of care within an ambulatory geriatrics clinic, house calls program, assisted living, and nursing facilities. She is also the developer of innovative models of service-learning programs such as the Seniors Assisting in Geriatrics Education (SAGE) Program which provides interprofessional team approach to care for health professions' students.
