Learning Objectives:
In this session, you'll learn how to:
- Upon completion of this program, participants will understand that the incidence of food allergy is increasing in the United States.
- Upon completing this program, participants will understand that many patients complain about problems with food or foods, but not all food sensitivity is a food allergy.
- Upon completion of this program, participants will understand that the diagnosis of food allergy depends on an appropriate history and a positive specific IgE test to the suspect food.

Bryan L. Martin, DO, MMAS, is currently the President of the World Allergy Organization (WAO) and a Past President of the American College of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology (ACAAI). Dr. Martin has been honored by the College as a Distinguished Fellow, and for Distinguished Service. He has won other prestigious national awards such as the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education Courage to Teach Award and the US Army’s Lewis Aspey Mologne Award for Military Academic Excellence. Dr. Martin was most recently at The Ohio State University where as a Professor of Medicine and Pediatrics, he served as the Associate Dean for Graduate Medical Education, the Designated Institutional Official and the Associate Medical Director for University Hospitals as well as serving as the program director in Allergy and Immunology and as Chief of the Allergy Immunology Division. Prior to his service at Ohio State, Dr. Martin spent 29 years in the US Army. He spent his last 9 years of military service at Walter Reed Army Medical Center where he served as Chair of the Department of Allergy and Immunology, the program director for the Allergy Immunology fellowship and the consultant to the US Army Surgeon General for Allergy and Immunology. He was also the Medical Troop Commander for the Third Armored Cavalry Regiment during Desert Shield and Desert Storm. Active in Organized Medicine at all levels, Dr. Martin is the past Chair of the International Collaboration in Asthma, Allergy and Immunology (iCAALL) and past Chair of the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) Allergy and Immunology Residency Review Committee. He also served on the Board of Directors of the Joint Council of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology and as a member of the Food and Drug Administration Allergenic Products Advisory Committee.
