Deborah A. Humphrey, DO, FACP, Associate Professor of Internal Medicine, University of South Florida Morsani College of Medicine and Chief, Section of Hospital Medicine, Tampa General Hospital.

Dr. Deborah A. Humphrey is a board-certified internist and hospice and palliative medicine physician with more than three decades of clinical, teaching, and leadership experience. She earned her Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine from Nova Southeastern University and completed internal medicine residency at the University of South Florida (USF), where she served as Chief Resident. At USF she is currently an Associate Professor and serves as a faculty educator for medical students, residents, and fellows.

An academic clinician, Dr. Humphrey has authored and co-authored numerous peer-reviewed publications, invited commentaries, textbook chapters, and case reports in journals including Southern Medical Journal, The Journal of General Internal Medicine, and Case Reports in Medicine. Her scholarly work spans clinical reasoning, hospital medicine, and medical education. She serves as a journal reviewer and regularly presents lectures and abstracts at conference meetings, including the American College of Physicians and the Association of Program Directors in Internal Medicine.

Her excellence in teaching and service has been widely recognized. Honors include the Florida Medical Association Distinguished Physician Award, the USF Distinguished Physicians Alumna Award, the Golden Apple Award for teaching, Fellow of the American College of Physicians, and the Marcus Award for Academic Excellence. She has served as a national judge for the American College of Physicians research and clinical vignette competitions.

Dr. Humphrey contributes to professional advancement through abstract review panels, national competitions, and mentorship programs for osteopathic physicians. Locally, she is committed to community service as Board President of Family Promise of Hillsborough County, a nonprofit supporting homeless families. Through patient care, scholarship, and mentorship, she has dedicated her career to compassionate medicine, education, and improving healthcare delivery.
