Hematology for the Hospitalists (2026 CCHM)
Learning Objectives:
- Recognize and initiate urgent management of TTP, ITP, and HIT, including key diagnostic features and indications for hematology consultation. Use guideline-based red blood cell and platelet transfusion thresholds in common hospitalized patient scenarios.
- Apply evidence-based approaches to the inpatient diagnosis and management of DVT and PE, including anticoagulation selection and risk stratification.
- Identify clinical and laboratory findings suggestive of acute leukemia (AML/ALL) and outline appropriate initial inpatient evaluation and stabilization.

Stephanie A. Haddad, DO; second-year hematology/oncology fellow and current Chief Wellness Fellow at UT Health San Antonio/Mays Cancer Center.She completed her internal medicine residency at Brown University/Kent Hospital. She earned her Bachelor of Arts in Biology with a concentration in Biochemistry from the College of the Holy Cross in Worcester, MA, and completed her medical degree at the West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine in Lewisburg, WV.She currently serves as a Review Editor for OncoDaily Medical Journal and participates in the ASCO Mentorship Program. She also contributes as the Osteopathic Medical School Clinical Advisor for the Health Professions Committee at her alma mater, the College of the Holy Cross, and co-chairs the Hem-Onc Fellows Network on Twitter/X.Throughout her career, she has published multiple manuscripts in reputable journals, presented her work in breast oncology at national conferences, and continues to conduct clinical research at her institution. Her work reflects a strong commitment to advancing the field of oncology while mentoring and supporting the next generation of physicians. She is interested in pursuing academic-based clinical practice in medical oncology with a primary focus on breast oncology and clinical research involving clinical trials.
