Frequently Asked Questions

Welcome to the ACOI’s Online Learning Center’s Frequently Asked Questions page.  Here you will find information to help guide you through this online learning tool.  If you do not find an answer to your question you may email katie@acoi.org for additional information.

Q. Do I need to have an account on the ACOI Online Learning Center in order to access and view educational content?
A. Yes.  Creation of an account is free and completed by clicking on “Create Account” on the top right of the Learning Center homepage.

Q. Through what accrediting bodies does the ACOI have accreditation to provide continuing medical education credit for physicians?

A. The ACOI is accredited by both the American Osteopathic Association (AOA) and the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME®).

Q. What type of continuing medical education credit is available through the Online Learning Center?
A. The type and amount of continuing medical education credit varies by learning activity.  You are encouraged to view all activity information prior to the purchase of materials to ensure the amount and type of credit available for a specific activity meets your educational needs.

Q. Do I need to submit continuing medical education credits completed through the Learning Center to the American Osteopathic Association?
A. No.  Once you complete a learning activity by successfully passing the post-test, the ACOI will submit the credits you earned directly to the AOA.  You will be able to print or save a certificate upon completion of an activity for your records.

Q. Will the ACOI submit AOA or AMA PRA credits earned to licensing boards or other entities on my behalf?
A. No.  The learner is responsible for the submission of earned AOA or AMA PRA credits to the appropriate entities other than the AOA.  You will be able to print or save a certificate upon completion of an activity for your records.

Q. Am I able to claim continuing medical education credit for an online activity recorded from a live activity that I attended and from which I have already claimed and received continuing medical education credit?
A. No.  If you were awarded AOA or AMA PRA credit for participation in the live activity, you may not claim credit for participation in the enduring material, although we encourage you to view the content to reinforce your learning.
